help! my system



maybe it's just me being crazy, but i'm really worried. someone broke into my room and typed, " rm - rf & /" into my box and now it's useless...all my files are gone. i was thinking about getting boot tape out and rebuilding the root filesystem from that...i'm so flustered. and i live in the middle of nowhere so i don't think i can get anyone to come out and help me.

unfortunately there's no help for that. if he gave that command as root your whole root filesystem is gone and the only option would be to reinstall the os and restore from your latest backup.

the only other option would be to send the hard drive to a place like kroll ontrack that does data recovery, but that would take days and hundreds of dollars (at least).
