loose passowrd??!!



hello everbody:
i've just faced this weird case, on my sol8 machine i created user called:
mmsctest, and assigned its passwrd to be same as user name "mmsctest".
however when i enter the password follwoed by any charecters like:

mmsctest1,mmsctest123,mmsctest666

im managed to log in wth that user.
do you have any idea what caused such case??

solaris 8 only uses 8 characters for the password, all of the ones after the eighth are discarded unless you change the encryption algorithm being used.

that made it clear now.
